Riverbend Tournament 2025

  • GREAT DAYS IN HAWKES BAY – RIVERBEND WRAP:

Throughout January, 8 youth cricket teams representing Seddon Cricket Club attended the Hawke's Bay Cricket Camps, also known as Riverbend.

For over 40 years Hawkes Bay has hosted these amazing tournaments, providing many fond memories for players, coaches, and parents. Many friendships have been forged during these wonderful cricket weeks.

Seddon Cricket Club are committed to supporting the Hawkes Bay Cricket Camps. They are always well organized, and they give young players the opportunity to play a variety of different formats of cricket. Some players get the opportunity to play on grass pitches for the very first time.

There were….highs and lows, rain and sun, hot weather and cold weather, artificial pitches and grass pitches, chicken burgers and beef burgers, some great catches and some dropped catches, lots of excitement and lots of disappointment, many tears but many smiles, a right shoe at the ground and a left shoe not at the ground, leg spin and off spin, in swingers and out swingers, Retired at 50s and Golden Ducks, umbrellas for the rain and umbrellas for the sun, some good pitch reports and some not so good pitch reports, some wins and some losses, certificates and a rock, heads and tails, panama hats and playing caps, mothers and fathers, grandmas and grandpas, brothers and sisters…..Burgundy and Pink.

Seddon Cricket Club would like to thank all our players and parents for promoting and upholding the club values that make Seddon Cricket Club special. The games were played in a spirit that all junior cricket matches should be played in. All the parents this year provided much colour and enthusiasm towards our matches. The feedback from many people across the North Island about how they enjoy playing Seddon Cricket Club is a credit to everyone that were involved. Long may this continue.

Sending 8 teams to Riverbend would not be possible without the generous support of our magnificent coaches and managers. We are truly blessed to have so many fine people involved that buy into what our club is about.
